News – Peckham Shooting: Woman ‘Stable’ After Being Caught In Crossfire Of London Gun Battle

A woman was shot in broad daylight while on a shopping trip after being caught in the crossfire of a dispute between two men.

The 30-year-old was shot in Bournemouth Road, Peckham, south London, yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the scene and the woman was taken to hospital where her condition was described as stable.

Detectives are appealing for help in tracking down the two men involved.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Police are appealing for information and witnesses after an innocent woman was shot in Peckham while returning from a shopping trip.

“Police were called at around 5.15pm on Sunday March 11 to Bournemouth Road, close to Rye Lane SE15, following reports of shots fired.

“A 30-year-old woman suffering a gunshot wound was taken by ambulance to a south London hospital where her condition remains stable.

“The woman was an innocent victim who was hit by a shot fired during a dispute between two men. Both men made off separately from the scene. Trident detectives are investigating.”

Detective Inspector Ray Keating, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a busy area and it was still daylight after 5pm. I am appealing to the many people who were in that area to come forward and speak to us if they saw anything suspicious or have any information.”

No arrests have been made.

Two men have been arrested in relation to the shooting of a woman, which took place in Peckham, South London on 11 March. The victim, a 30-year-old woman, was caught in the crossfire between two men. The female shopper was said to be on her way home when the bullet hit her in the lower back. She is currently in hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.

Two men who fled the scene after the incident, have been traced. The men, aged 19 and 20, were arrested on Friday in Kent, they have been bailed until the end of the month pending further investigation.

    But, the condition is that the accused released must appear for his / her trial or else will have to forfeit the bail. If the person does fail to appear for the trial, along with losing the bail deposited, he will be further charged with the crime of failure to appear.
