Will we ever see an end to the issues that plague us such as Bullying, Domestic Violence and Child Abuse?
Back in July we ran a post called “Wish you weren’t here”(Post can be found at http://tomthumb.info/tt/index.php/2012/07/29/tom-thumb-wish-you-werent-here/) so if you haven’t already read it head on over, check it out and let us know what you think.
We looked at the issues we face in today’s world such as , domestic violence, child abuse, discrimination, racism, bullying and how it seems impossible to go a day without opening the paper or watching the news and seeing or hearing about one of the things happening and those are just the cases that are reported. The majority of case are never reported.
The above question is one that we return to time after time as we want to keep updated on what you think about was is happening in the world and the issues that shape our everyday lives. We want to know how you feel about bullying, domestic violence and and child abuse and whether you think that the tables can be turned and the war on the issues can be won.
At Tomthumb.info we strongly believe that by standing together, being united and speaking out we can make change, we can make a better tomorrow. in the hope that no one has to deal with these “diseases” that plague us.
But what do you think?
Have your say and let us know what you think….

In utopiaville & most every episode of Star Trek, a perfect world exists where no one’s feelings get hurt, everyone shares, and no one bullies.
How we get there, they never tell us, but I have a feeling that behind that facade of utopia is a dystopian autocracy waiting to tell you how to act at all times (so no one’s feelings will ever get hurt one iota).
Most people have been both bullies and been bullied, BTW.
To see an end we will have to find the cause. Right now as a society we are being reactive to the issues rather than being proactive. Why do they bully? Why do they abuse? Why do they hurt? Find the answers and we are one step closer to the solution.

I believe we can end it. ‘It’ being oppression, the use of privilege, power and control to harm others,
Will it be easy? No. Will it happen quickly? No. Probably not in my lifetime as I am already in middle age. Will it take everyone deciding ‘enough’ and becoming more than bystanders … But intervening… Challenging victim blaming. Challenging rape culture. Challenging misogyny , racism, and the whole lot of societal constructs that promulgate abuse.
We can do it, but it will start like a ripple in the ocean. Complacency gets us nowhere. Thinking the problem is too big, too pervasive gets us nowhere as well- or sets us back even further. Succumbing to the backlash and internalized ‘isms’ takes squarely into oppression.
I, for one, have spent nearly 25 years of my life volunteering or working to end violence and inequality. For me, the rallying cry is ‘No more!’
